The Gear Applications Committee evaluates the design, rating, and application of gear drives in which spur, helical, herringbone, or bevel gears are the principal form of gearing. Configurations such as epicyclic (planetary) gear arrangements are considered. Applications like electrified and internal combustion vehicle drives, mill gearing, marine drives, and gearbox repair are covered by this committee. This committee helps serve as the US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO Working Group 6 for thermal rating of gear drives and ISO TC 14, Shafts for Machinery and Accessories.
