The Accuracy and Nomenclature Committee develops the AGMA classification systems covering quality, measurement methods, inspection equipment, and master gear specifications used in the inspection of gears. This committee also develops definitions, symbols, terms, etc., for all elements and types of gears. Also in scope are design considerations, tooth forms, and other aspects of fine-pitch gears (spur and helical) and face gears which must be treated in a different manner from coarse-pitch gears. Documents created establish a common language for members of the gear industry to effectively and efficiently communicate with each other. This committee helps serve as the US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO Working Group 2 and ISO Working Group 4.
