Product Manager - Cleveland Gear Company

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop Sales and Marketing programs to achieve company fiscal year sales and booking goals.
- Develop list pricing levels and discount multipliers for OEM, Distributor, & User sales channels to achieve Modular fiscal year profit margin goals.
- Manage daily activities of Modular Applications Engineer and Customer Service Representative.
- Work with Materials Manager to develop and maintain inventory levels to support Sales and Marketing programs.
- Act as Company’s primary sales liaison with Modular Drive Manufacturing partners.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationship with Company’s Field Sales Representatives.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Five (5) years direct experience in Mechanical Power Transmission Applications and proposal preparation.
- Working knowledge of Worm Gearing and enclosed Worm Drives.
- Product pricing and profitability responsibility.
- Prior inventory control experience.
- Sales supervisory experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary responsibility for this position is to design industrial gear boxes from customer requirements. Responsibilities include complete gearbox and component design from the concept stage to finalized design. The successful hire will also be involved in the development of accessories for geared products. This position will include the following activities:
- Design gear geometry based on application requirements
- Bearing life and shaft stress analysis
- Create 2D conceptual layouts of gearboxes
- Create solid model parts and assemblies
- Produce assembly and detailed component drawings
- Calculate dimensions, clearances, and tolerances
- Prepare Bills of Materials
- Provide technical support for development testing
EDUCATION:
BSME
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong knowledge of industrial gearing, gearbox design and their applications
- Machine design experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- 3D CAD experience (Solidworks preferred)

Summary
Perform reverse engineering procedures of mechanical components for enclosed drives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform gearbox teardown evaluations.
- Measuring and sketching part configurations.
- Hardness testing and including determination of gear geometry and material selection.
- Create detailed CAD drawings and BOMs as assigned.
- Meet the reverse engineering requirements for rebuilding enclosed drives.
- Support engineers by updating drawings, BOMs and other files as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Advanced degree in engineering or similar technical degree or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of machine tool manufacturing, education and training.
- Experience with micrometers and other instruments used to measure part configurations.
- CAD drawing experience of mechanical parts.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Can work well in a team environment.
- Willing to travel to customer/user sites.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to perform essential functions and requirements of the job.

Engineering Service Center Regional Sales & Service Specialist
Sumitomo Drive Technologies – Northeast Region
Purpose and Scope of Job:
Responsible for the creation of new business activities using proven sales and technical skills. Provides regional technical and engineering assistance to industrial accounts including end user, distributor, and OEM. Specialty is in the area of retrofits, repairs, and preventive/predictive maintenance service packages. This position generates, supports, and compliments the service sales growth of ESC customer account base.
Essential Functions:
Primary duties will be to identify and develop key accounts in collaboration with existing SMA Field Sales force to meet ESC strategic objectives.
Daily liaison and technical communication between the customer, SMA Field Sales and SMA Engineering department is expected.
Create technical reports documenting opportunities and provide recommendations to resolve issues.
Assist in making decisions to optimize customer equipment utilization, including shutdown versus continue to run.
Technologies to be used will include: vibration monitoring, infrared thermography, sound level measurement and oil analysis that assist in the evaluation process of units for potential return and repair.
Make recommendations for scheduling equipment and repairs, including the types of maintenance and repairs.
Non-Essential Functions:
A working knowledge of Non destructive testing and inspection, video scoping, liquid penetrant, hardness testing, strain gauge set up and analysis, torque measurement, motor current measurement and acoustic emission measurement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Previous Field Sales experience selling mechanical products to heavy industrial accounts.
Business knowledge of industrial distribution.
Strong knowledge of the operating characteristics of rotating machinery.
Prefer two years of work history that includes mechanical power transmission equipment.
Previous application engineering experiences in a mechanical discipline a plus.
Understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance technologies and methodologies.
Ability to use electronic measurement equipment with minimal training.
A bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical discipline (Mechanical Engineering preferred but not required)
Competencies:
Must have clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must be detail oriented.
Capable of performing duties with minimal direction and have strong interpersonal skills.
Proficient in mathematics.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of skilled trades.
Safety training experience in a heavy industrial setting is helpful.
Work Environment:
Largest time percentage spent at customer plant, but includes personal home office and customer offices. Willing to travel to assigned locations on short notice and the ability to work select weekends or off hours. Travel is expected to comprise 75% of managed time. Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment. May be required to work around rotating, energized equipment.
